CEO Message - December

01 December 2020

On behalf of myself, the Hill County Electric (HCE) Board, and employees, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thank you to our incredible employees who continue to provide our members with the best service during these trying times. Many of our employees have been working remotely, which is quite a change, and a few have been able to still be here in the Havre office. Our linemen prove again and again their dedication to our membership which makes us one of the best cooperatives around. It has taken everyone united as a team to keep providing uninterrupted service to our members. I know 2020 has been a challenging year for all of us and I appreciate the employees’ willingness to do what is best for their co-workers and you, our members.

I would also like to thank you, for being patient with us after our lobby was closed. This was necessitated by the need to keep you and our employees healthy and safe. For your convenience, HCE payments can still be dropped off at the office in our night drop (near the flag pole), on your smartphone using the SmartHub app (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store), Pay-by-Phone, at Independence Bank in Havre, or on our website (www.hcelectric.com).

It is scholarship time! Students whose guardians are HCE members are eligible for a variety of scholarship opportunities offered by HCE. Students or guardians may find more information and download the applications under the Community tab on the HCE website. Workforce Development scholarships are also available for students interested in Lineman school or the MSU-Northern Electrical Technology Program.

You may have noticed in last month’s newsletter a new scholarship. Due to the concerns for the health and safety of the students and chaperones resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, MECA and their Board decided not to participate in the NRECA Youth Tour to Washington DC in 2021. This $2,500 scholarship will replace the Youth Tour to DC trip for 2021. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is December 15th.

If you have not already, I suggest you take a minute to check out our updated website. The new design is very easy to navigate. Find out all the details for outages and the scholarships I mentioned on our website, www.hcelectric.com

Again, happy holidays to all of you and please stay warm, stay safe and stay healthy
