As part of this commitment, the Cooperative offers scholarship opportunities to its members and member dependents. Each year, our Trustees are continually impressed with the quality of applications and the impressive records of the students who apply! Please browse our scholarship opportunities below.
Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Association (MECA), of which Hill County Electric Cooperative (HCE) is a member, awards one scholarship annually in the amount of $500. Applicants or applicants’ parents or guardians must be a member of an electric cooperative that belongs to MECA. HCE is proud to be a member of MECA and encourages all eligible students planning to attend college as an undergraduate in the fall to apply for this scholarship opportunity.

In Addition: HCE is pleased to offer a $500 member dependent scholarship. Students applying for the MECA Scholarship will automatically be entered for consideration.
Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) provides a scholarship to be awarded by HCE annually to a member’s dependent. Eligible applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time graduate or undergraduate program at an accredited, two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of education and career goals and an outside recommendation.

Basin Scholarship Information

This unique scholarship is solely based on the information you provide to the committee. When telling your story and where you are going in the future, be sure to specifically include the following: What is your need for this particular scholarship and what goal are you trying to achieve by attending college?

Hill County Electric (HCE) offers a $1,000 scholarship for a student residing in one of the five counties served by HCE and who is entering an accredited lineman school and who plans to work in Montana as a lineman.

HCE offers a $500 scholarship to a student who is entering or currently enrolled in the Electrical Technology program at Montana State University-Northern in Havre, MT and who plans to work in Montana in the electrical technology field.

HCE recognizes that acquiring a job and staying competitive in the workplace includes showing employers you have the skills, knowledge and experience to get the job done. Returning to or starting college along with learning a new trade is required in many cases. This is why HCE is proud to offer up to two $1,000 scholarships per year to adult learners attending college or a trade school for the purpose of educational training to improve their career opportunities.

Members and member dependents enrolled or planning to enroll in the fall at an accredited college pursuing an undergraduate degree are invited to attend the annual meeting and enter the drawing to win one of the "Luck of the Draw" scholarships to be awarded at the annual meeting. To be eligible for the scholarship drawing, complete the Luck of the Draw form and attend the annual meeting. Member dependents must be accompanied by a parent who is a member of HCE. Those eligible students not winning a Luck of the Draw scholarship will receive a $100 scholarship just for attending!
