CEO August Message

01 August 2020

All Hill County Electric (HCE) members were mailed a letter the beginning of June explaining the HCE Board’s decision to hold a special meeting by mail to elect new trustees. Be assured the HCE Board did not make this decision lightly. Below are some details of what to expect.

HCE’s Districts 2 and 3 are up for election this year. The nominating committee met and nominated Trevor Standing Rock for District 2 and Leslie Smith for District 3.

Any HCE Member who wished to run for an HCE Board Trustee position and lives in the boundaries of Districts 2 and 3 were able to run by petition. The petitions were due on June 15th.

Ballots will be mailed the week of July 6th. This year, write in nominations will take the place of nominations from the floor. All ballots will include a self-addressed stamped envelope and must be returned by mail. Bosch, Kuhr, Dugdale & Brown must receive your mail in ballot by July 24th. They will count the ballots on July 27th. HCE will NOT accept any ballots directly.

This is a new experience for all of us. Please take the time to read the letter you received with the complete details and contact me, Jim Sands, VP of Electric, or Mark Majeres, CFO at 1-877-394-7804 with any questions.

HCE’s August Rural Montana magazine will include all the annual update reports normally included in the Annual Meeting Notice. The September Rural Montana magazine will include the voting results which will also be posted on HCE’s Facebook page.

Thank you for being part of the future of your cooperative by taking part in this process. We hope next year we can meet face to face.

In closing, I would like to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July, please remember our Declaration of Independence and that Freedom is not Free! On that note, I would like to take a moment to thank those who are currently serving or have served in our armed forces. We appreciate your service and sacrifice to protect our freedoms.
